The truth will set you free… but first, it’ll piss you off.
This week was rough.
…but we made it through!
Instead of trying to make sense of all my emotions - I decided to let them bounce around and flow. So, this week’s letter is a curated assembly of how I “relax, relate, (and) release.”
Reflections Found In My iOS Notes:
There will be days. Days where you feel ugly inside and out. Days where your light is dim. Days where your energy is so low that it takes everything in you to fulfill basic needs. Days when you need infinite space. Days where you feel lonely in filled rooms. …there will be days. And on these days - remind yourself that you deserve grace and gentleness. That you deserve pockets of joy and the comfort of new beginnings. Remind yourself of how far you’ve come in the journey Send away the imposter, also known as inferiority. Let them know that they are no longer welcome in your space Even on the days when the rain lasts a little longer than the sun Find peace in knowing that a new day equals a new opportunity… …there will be days… Just like there have been days before And you’ve survived them all… Remind yourself that even on those days You are a reflection of light, love, and grace. Even on those days You are a reflection of your ancestors' dreams.
Songs That Unlock My Inner Zen:
Let It Flow - Toni Braxton
You see the thing 'bout love
Is that it's not enough
If the only thing it brings you is pain
There comes a time when we could all make a change, darling
On My Mama - Victoria Monét
I put that on my own mama
On my hood
I look fly
I look good
You can't touch my bag
Wish you could
I look fly
I look too good
Lemon - N.E.R.D & Rihanna
But everyday, hey, wasn’t lemonade
I was afraid, once a ninja graduate
Would I be okay?
So I prayed and I played
It’s Rihanna, ninja
My constellation in space
A Random Photo Dump From This Week:
…And Let’s End This With A Good Book
Tia Williams did her big one with A Love Song For Ricki Wilde. This is one of those stories that I wish I could experience for the first time again! 10/10! *chefs kiss*
We shall start Seven Days In June next week! Are any of my book friends on Fable? If so, you can follow me here.
"Days where you feel ugly inside and out. Days where your light is dim. Days where your energy is so low that it takes everything in you to fulfill basic needs." I needed to hear this, a reminder that it's perfectly fine to feel these things. As another black girl with anxiety from Detroit, I love your posts! <3
Love this, the last couple of weeks have been utterly jarring/tiring and I'm ready to rest now
