"Remember what I looked like before the tariffs hit?" 😂 You look good tho!

Getting your hair done on the porch needs to come back quickly.

What bothers me the most is that even if you're living below your means, buying the essentials is hard to do. Or how about just a lil pampering that you barely do for yourself? Supplies are going up, service rates are increasing and all you wanna do is get your hair done with no problems. Once again, we are being tested and it's hitting our pockets hard. Work with what we have, back to the basics and learn a few skills along the way.

Dis wig not gonna last 4 years 🤣😶 but also thank you, friend! I tried 😔

Back to the basics is what we need to do. I feel our communities shifting towards that... but then there's good ol consumerism and bills that make these efforts complicated.

Can we just buy an island?! Start fresh! Lol

I don't know anything about taking care of wigs but you might have to. I believe in you!😭😭

An island sounds good but I'm thinking of certain guests that say they coming for the weekend and end up staying like...forever.

I thought you said “before the tears hit” 😂😂 although from the rest of the video it seems it fits anyway 🥹. I’m in Toronto so I only feel you partially….for now 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thank you for your insight. You are not alone. I thank God that He blessed me with wash-and-go hair. He knew I would be too lazy to put much effort into how I looked (not to say that I don't at least make an effort to look presentable when I go out - my mom and dad didn't play that. You know whose house you're representing when you leave!). Chapstick, perfume and lotion are about the full extent of my make-up routine. Add a little Argon oil, Vitamin E oil, or Blue Magic - whatever I have nearby, to the hair and I'm off to the races. Good wigs can be extremely expensive and with everything else that wants to skyrocket lately, I may seriously need to consider a personal entrance into the silk road trade by cutting some of my own hair to make ends meet!

I, like yourself, am thankful for the privilege of working from home. I made the decision to start my own business a few years ago, and I'd be lying if I said these tariffs weren't making me a little uneasy. During times of uncertainty, what works best for me is a reliance on my faith first and foremost and knuckling down. While that may not move the needle significantly, it allows me to "do something" and take my mind off of the little voice inside my head telling me to descend into the encroaching pit of hopelessness. But that's one of the great things about black people. We're innovative, hard-working, loyal, intelligent, wise, malleable and strong. Move the goal post, pull the rug out from under us, throw obstacles in our path, and we will course correct. We'll figure out another way to accomplish whatever it is we need to do. We survive...it's in our DNA.

So, I said all that to say that you are going to be okay. By all means, have as many tantrums as you need if it means producing more great bodies of work for us to read. Not to discount how you're feeling, but they are very entertaining. :-)

You gained a subscriber in me. Can't wait to read more.
