Let's explore hard boundaries, breakthroughs despite the blues, and how Janet Jackson's saddie baddie era is the gift that keeps on giving 27 years later.
Classic album. This one took leaps, twists, and turns on subject matter and experimentation.
My mom once told me that when I was like a 1-year-old infant, she found me STARING in front of the TV set watching the "Every Time" music video. I obviously don't remember but I totally believe it lol
Loved hearing that this project resonated with you. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your memory with me and stopping by!
The way I Get So Lonely had me in a chokehold?!
Janet has always been a force, but when she entered the Velvet Rope era, you can just feel her super powers unlock - like, the assignment was understood and she knew what she was put on this earth to dooooo lol
This feels so on time to read. I just quit my job because it was chaotic behind my own velvet rope. Amazing amazing work. You’re writing bout to pay the bills. I claim it for us both.
When I was a teenager and struggling with my mental health, this album was my go-to. It made me feel heard, even if it was just me singing alone in my room. I love your quote: “Dare to tell the stories that were never told, that stayed in the darkest corner of the basement because they were deemed dishonorable.” I’m going to replay this album this weekend and think about the stories I want to tell. ❤️
Wow! You go deep! ♥️ And you are so beautiful, inside and out.
🥹😭 thank you so much! I am truly honored by this compliment. You are such an amazing soul!
